Not that it is not the law.... of course it is. The poster is saying that they did not enact the law as an altruistic decision, but a business one.

The thing is, all those stories about people dying from video gaming in Korea stem from one game, the popular RTS game StarCraft (see my arvatar). As far as I know, it is the only game to have ever killed anybody from heart failure.

Well if you dont want that...how about complaining about the HoH messages that come up EVERY ELEVEN MINUTES, and have nothing to do with your gameplay at all. (You are told who has favor when you enter areas that are effected by favor, so that 11 minute message is just a "who is pwning" remainder).

Atleast this one has a practical use. Maybe not ingame, but your life.

Oh wait...that would much more sense than this thread....nvm.

/notsigned ever. i like. I want it to stay. Sometimes I spend a little too much time on GW. Having a simple reminder is a nice touch.

And if it cuts down on the time I burn inttheir server, well...win win

I agree, whats sad is that news often report only the oddity and not the common because the intrigue attracts more audience, this generates rumors and stereotypes about video games causing deaths. Truth is, there are more suicides in one day than death from playing video games ever... yet no one seems to care about suicides...

It may sound silly but to some people its convicing.

"La la la, playing Guild Wars... Oh dear I've been on for that long? I really need to go outside or something or get a... XL BAG OF DORITOS AND 4 LITER PEPSI BOTTLE AND PLAY FOR 12 MORE HOURS RAWARWERW"

Thank you Sofonisba...you explained it so I didn't have to.

And just for the record...I couldn't care less about the "warning system" or "babysitter" if you'd rather call it that. As I posted earlier in another thread, I have only ever manged to play for 2 hours in one day....and that has only happened twice. I just think this "solution" is not much of a solution at all. Again, as I already posted in another thread..if someone is hell bent on spending 20,30 or 400,000 hours playing a game then a little.."you should take a break" isn't even going to be noticed.

If you're getting at the game for it being friendly, you've been playing too long and need a break.

Link to info because I'm 80% sure you're wrong. I do recall someone dying after playing WoW (or maybe L2 or something) for days and not eating or sleeping. Even if it's only once, it makes your statement wrong.

I agree ...The HOH messages should also be able to be disabled. GW does not announce every time a PVE team does something **special** . If it was in the options menu, then those interested could see it and those not would not have to see it spammed. As for this thread, a complaint to Anet results in a standard response to post your complaint on fansites, therefore that is what I did. If you don't like the thread, do not read it and do not respond to it. It will quickly die.

I didn't know about this "babysitter". Sounds like a good idea though, I myself occasionally play a little longer then expected, never 6 hours though. I think my top was 3 hours. I wasted my day... They should make it play every 3 hours.
Really, if you get mad at this, you must be in denial of having a gaming problem.

since anets so interested in announcing stuff that doesnt concern everyone...why dont they make an "akhilleus item purchase announcer"
where every time i trade for something nice, it announces it.

As far as a suggestion...already been mentioned...the ability to turn it off...
Just as a clarification, the above statement is being made in the wrong context. The "seat-belt law" was created by the insurance companies using lobbiests to get the law passed because it saves them money, not that they care about the public.

*edit* Speaking of the situation in the USA.

No denial here... I know I play more than most, but it is my choice.

I like the message. If I'm ever on for another 54 hours(long 54 hour story with that) then it's nice to know a computer will talk to me other than "OMG SOMEONE WON IN THE TOMBS YOUR CONTINENT SUCKS NO FAVOR FOR JOO FOO!"(thats what it looks like to me after 32 hours soloing )

It's nice to know someone will nag me about playing too long. Even if I don't care about their opinion :P

Let me get this right.

You are complaining about an hourly message that shows up in your text window, that is sometimes hard to notice unless you are looking?

GROW UP.

I do not see anything but beneficial with this timer. Besides it only shows up once an hour with just a single text line.

I cannot believe my eyes that there are actually people complaining about this... o.O

First time I ever encountered a babysitter was in Stronghold, but that was a voice, and it activated at midnight, don't know abouy continous playing though. Anyway I laughed my ass of, that was fun but I never heard it again

So you play for 6 hours straight, get a small chat message saying that you need to get some rest? I think it was right of that little message to say that, you ARE tired if you act like that, or imature, would say both.

In every manual it says, play max 45 minutes and take a 15 minutes break. Why not sync the complete internet so it freezes every 45 minutes and you can't do anything for 15 minutes. Heck, why not make the computer messure the temperature outside, air pressure, wheater. It has all those stations placed outside and after 45 minutes it freezes and says you have to go outside, memorise those and then come inside and type them in the computer.

That would be something to complain about, but a little message that is a couple of letters, no.

/not signed, I think it is fun with babysitters

*sigh* waste your life away...youll only see it 24 times a day. If you see it more than 50 times, you are going to die soon.

Its not like it shuts off your game or anything.
I heard from a guildie that it kicks you after 8 hours.

Unlike you, some people like to know when their territory is goign to have favor, or when they have won favor. I like farming UW a lot, so knowing as soon as possible when i can go in is a + for me. This idiotic counter is more pointless.
